Hah!!

This made me laugh.

I'm now listening to Holiday music on the...holiday music station...and I just heard a rendition of "The First Noel".  It had this awful orchestral background and bells and...it was just oozing cheese.  I was sure it was something from the 80s, as it was very Harry Conicky...Manilowy...cheese.  It was awful.  it was gawful.  That's my new word.  Gawful.  And I thought to myself, man that's an awful.  There are some BAD arrangements of some good songs out there.  That's really not right.  Huh, but the guy singing can sing.  But it's just sooo cheesy!  And then the Dj came on, and announced that that was "The First Noel" sung by Clay Aiken.

I burst out laughing.

That's just way too funny.

Random Musings

A few disconnected thoughts:

* I went to Fresno for Thanksgiving (as that's where the majority of my family is...at least the family who lives in the United States).  I knew I was in trouble when, after 30 minutes, I was painfully bored.  I passed the time by reading and playing DiceZ.  My family, still living in the early 90's, still has the dial up modem and only local broadcasting (a.k.a. no cable).  I know, I know, I'm a technology snob.  But man...have you tried to do ANYTHING on dial up modem after having lived with high speed internet for years and years?  It's PAINFUL.

* I'm listening to Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony right now on KUSC.  I'll be honest, I was channel surfing hoping to catch some random Weezer or The Strokes or The Walkmen or something.  But I can't pass up Tchaikovsky, he's too awesome.  I don't think I fully appreciated him until I played a whole bunch of his stuff.  I don't know about you all (though I have a hunch), but it's much more interesting for me to listen to something I've played before.  It makes it more interesting because I know what's coming up and I know the energy expended to play the piece.

* My advisement (which is like homeroom) won the trivia tournament.  Actually, we tied with the Principal's advisement.  I find this thoroughly amusing.  I think my advisement is a lot like I am.  Lacking spirit that requires wearing unusual clothing, slightly cynical and too lazy to actively go after spirit points, but smart so we win the things that take intellect but no effort.

* I bought the box set of The Chronicles of Narnia.  It's a very fast read.  I'm going to take them to be seminar tomorrow and see if I can get at least one book read, if not 2.  I'm also taking my cello in the vain hope that if I get bored, they'll let me go play somewhere =D  I don't think they will, but I have a rehearsal afterward so I have to take her anyway.

* Be nice to the sub.

R is for...cookie?

And I'm sick.  Not even mildly annoyingly sick, but 104 fever sick.  I've been drinking tons of juice (OJ, apple, cranberry) and have been spending my time in bed.  But I think I've developed a Tylenol tolerance.  Once I hit over 104 last night, I took 4 (because of my insane tolerance), but my fever only went down 2 degrees in a couple hours.  So I took 2 more.  And now I can't take any more because you're not supposed to have more than 8 in 24 hours, and most likely I'll need it again to sleep tonight.

In the meantime, I'm watching tv.  The food network, Sesame Street...i got to listen to cookie monster do a rap about the letter R.  Some people (or monsters) should not rap.  Ever.  Especially if it's about a letter that makes you sound like a pirate.  What's a pirate's favorite letter?

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  =D

Okay, well I'm going to go lie down again (as opposed to sitting up right now).  I hope you all are enjoying your 3 day weekend more than I.

Burn!

I think I've burned myself.  I know what you're thinking: how can you not be  sure if you burned yourself?  Either you have or you have not.  Where's the confusion?  Well, when you have substantial cello calluses, it's hard to tell at times.  My middle finger of my left hand kind of hurts, and I was ironing about 10 minutes ago, but I can't completely tell yet.

I love the weather.  I love cool crisp breezy "flannel" weather as I call it (though I don't really wear flannels anymore since Seattle grunge has fallen out of fashion, but I don't care that my vernacular is antiquated.  I stand by it!).  You can wear anything, and you never feel gross.  At most you feel slightly warm or somewhat chilly, but never hot or freezing.  It's the perfect weather for soup, but not quite cold enough for hot cocoa.

I'm sleepy.  Maybe I will go to bed early for once.  I do enjoy sleeping...and I get so little of it...
