11:26 p.m. Wii &
Legos. I have been playing for
hours. I should really pace
myself. There’s something a little bit
sad about a grown person spending this much time playing video games. Of course if it wasn’t this it would be my
fallback game: online backgammon!
Woo! The game of 80 year old
old ladies and….me! J
I am currently highest scoring on tennis and boxing. AND I discovered web capabilities on my
Wii…and used them to browse youtube. The
videos look awesome on a full sized television. I was thinking about my love of
Legos earlier today. I used to LOVE
Legos. I played with them all through
childhood, I still built cities randomly when I was in high school, I took
legos with me to college…they are my go-to toy. And I was also realizing that I haven’t
whipped out the Legos in a very long time.
Once I moved out of my dorm room in college, somehow the Legos got
forgotten. I had these little space
men….I think Star Trek was very popular at the time. I can’t really remember… But now my mother uses my old Legos for her
real estate clients, and I really don’t want to play with Legos that a ton of
little kids have played with. Not
hygienic. Maybe I will get myself some
Legos… I also have to go to my
favorite place this weekend…Barnes and Noble!
It’s been a very long time….a couple weeks! I need to pick up some CDs (of
course). And I’m contemplating a book
ban. At some point I’d like to read
all 6 Harry Potters (before July 21st, of course), but I’m not
sure how long it’ll take me. I don’t
want to read and then have a long time to wait for Book 7….but I don’t want
to procrastinate either. This is
serious business people! Timing is
critical! There’s a commercial
for….imitrex….with a woman “conducting” a small group of children. This commercial bothers me. 1.)
She
clearly is not a real conductor 2.)
She
clearly has no internal rhythm looking at her movements 3.)
She’s
holding the baton in her left hand, instead of her right I know, I know. Music snob.
Guilty. But come on! Okay. I’m going to bed. For a long time. And the I’m going to wake up and play Super
Paper Mario :D |

11:05 a.m. At around 11:00 last night, the
website (which I obsessively check, and whose purpose is to tell me when a
Wii is in stock at a store) showed that the Target in At 10:30 I woke up. I called Target, and they said they had
the Wii! They said there were 3
left! Well that was it. Within 3 minutes I brushed my hair, changed
clothes, and was out the door. No
shower. No brushing of teeth (gum
worked for the time being). No makeup. A hat…since I have crazy wake-up
bangs. I drove SUPER fast to the
Target, while all the while thinking, “Why is everyone driving slowly?! Don’t they know I have somewhere to
be?!” Took the first parking space I
could find, speed walked through the doors of Target, and then realized that
this Target’s layout was different than every other Target I’ve ever been to. Ack! I saw the “Pharmacy” sign and
went toward it, thinking every Target except Spectrum has the electronics
department by the Pharmacy. And I was
right J
I went and saw there was ONE LEFT!
I tried to open the glass doors, but they wouldn’t open. That’s when I looked over and saw a Target
employee looking at me with amusement.
I asked, “Are these doors locked?”
He smiled and said, “Yes…” So I
politely asked, “Can you….unlock them for me please?” And he laughed. And unlocked the door and got the Wii
out. I had to follow him to the check
out counter where I bought it right there. I HAVE ONE NOW! And I got the LAST one! I am very happy. |

10:33 p.m. Wii
pleeeaase? It’s official: I WANT A Wii. I tend not to get sucked into
trends…with the exception of the 80s legwarmers, neon clothing, and oversized
t-shirts cinched at your side. It was
a very unattractive decade and I was very young and impressionable and really
did not know better. How was I to know
that neon green and neon hot pink are not the best combination? Everybody wore it! But alas, I get away from my point. I gave up video games after the SNES
(Super Nintendo Entertainment System for all too young to remember). I had the original NES, then the SNES, and
then….I kind of stopped caring. When
the N64 came out, I discovered that I am not good with a joystick. True 3D movement was not my forte, as my
characters tended to just run in circles until they hit a wall and fell down. It was a very sad time. So I watched the Playstation
fads go by. Game Cube. Playstation again. Graphics got better. I played someone’s….something game. I got annoyed at how little playing there
was involved. Instead I had to watch
this mini-movie about some girl…I just wanted to run and hit things. I thought to myself: wow, you’re becoming one of those old people who get stuck in their
ways and refuse to accept new technology. Of course my parents are
worse. When I got my original
Nintendo, they tried to play.
Once. Neither of them could master
jumping over holes, and would inevitably fall right in. This was after they physically tried to
will Mario over the hole. It did not
work. And I laughed at them. And now it’s happening to me. lol I heard about all the wii
commotion during the holidays.
Everyone wanted one! Nobody had
them! Someone in I WANT ONE! Wanting a Wii, however, is much
different than having the ability to locate one and purchase one. It’s really quite impossible. I refuse to be one of those people who
stand outside Toys ‘R Us before it opens, drooling in the window over a
Wii. I refuse to alter any type of
sleeping schedule to accommodate a video game console. That’s where I draw the line!! But still…. I want one. I must have one. And I will GET ONE! =D |
